Facilitators and Supervisors
At the heart of Tostan lies the efforts of hundreds of
community facilitators
, who work tirelessly under difficult circumstances to bring the Tostan program to communities each year. Often referred to as "volunteer" facilitators because of their long hours and modest salaries, these dedicated women and men live and work with the communities they serve for 30 months.
In creating a grassroots organization, Tostan has relied on its facilitators who implement the educational programs in communities. Specially trained in Tostan's curriculum and pedagogy, they structure activities and experiences that maximize participation and learning and collect all statistics related to the classes. They also help coordinate community-wide events and social action.
Facilitators collaborate with their zonal
supervisors
who conduct trainings, monitor program implementation, supervise community actions, and ensure collaboration and exchange on a regional level.
